Schedule

The Hart School Career & Internship Fair is a 1-day event. The registration fee covers your lunch and allows each organization to bring up to two representatives. If you’d like to bring more than two company reps, you may do so for an additional $15 per person. Hart School students from both Hospitality Management and Sport & Recreation management will be present.

  • 8:30 am – 10:00 am: Arrive at JMU's Ballroom, check in, and set up booth
  • 10:00 am – 1:00 pm: Career & Internship Fair
  • 1:00 pm – 2:30 pm: Employer Lunch with Hart School Faculty 

Interview Rooms 

YOU MAY BEGIN RESERVING INTERVIEW ROOMS ON NOV. 1, 2018

Interviews are not a formal part of the Career Fair schedule but you are invited to conduct them in JMU’s Career & Academic Planning On-Campus Recruiting space (most employers will conduct interviews the afternoon following the fair or the day after the fair). In order to conduct interviews on-campus, please log in to our online recruiting platform Handshake and click Interviews on the left bar, then ‘Request Interview Schedule.’ From there, you may follow Handshake’s Help Center Post an Interview Schedule instructions.

Registration

DATES AND DEADLINES:

  • Employer registration Opens: Monday, October 22, 2018
  • Interview Room Registration Opens: Thursday, November 1, 2018
  • Registration Closes: When all spaces have been reserved.
  • Cancellation Deadline for 100% refund: Tuesday, December 18, 2018
  • Cancellation Deadline for 50% refund:  Friday, January 4, 2019
  • No refund will be issued for cancellations received after Friday, January 4, 2019

If the event is canceled by James Madison University due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances, a full refund will be issued.

Please submit payment within 15 days of completing the registration process*

*Registration is not confirmed until payment has been received. If payment is not received, your spot will be given to another company on the waitlist.

FEES

  • $250 – For-Profit Organizations
  • $50 – Charitable Non-Profits*/Government Agencies
  • $15 – Additional Attendees**

*To verify non-profit status, your tax ID will be requested when you register.

**All registration fees include lunch, one table (8' x 2'), event publicity, and 2 representatives (each additional attendee is $15.00). Each organization is limited to 1 table only.

Employer Lunch with Hart School Faculty

Date: February 6, 2019 

Time: 1:00pm – 2:30pm
Where: Festival Highlands Room  

We invite you to attend the Employer Lunch with Hart School Faculty after the fair! This will allow you to connect with faculty, learn more about their academic departments, and discover new ways in which to engage with JMU students

Feel free to leave your materials and displays in the Festival Ballroom while you’re eating lunch. We have reserved the Ballroom until 3pm so you have time to enjoy your meal before needing to pack-up.

 Need to ship display items back after the fair? See below for instructions and reminders:

  • It is the responsibility of each employer to arrange for his/her own pick up of displays.
  • Please call in your shipment to your carrier at least  two hours prior to pick-up.
  • Pick-ups should be arranged for 5:00 p.m. same day at the latest. Please tell express delivery services to pick up displays at the main entrance to the Festival Conference Center.
  • After arranging shipment please bring your materials to the registration desk for storage.
  • Please note that JMU is not responsible for any displays remaining after 3:00 p.m.
Traveling, Parking & Accommodations

The event will be held in the Festival Conference & Student Center at 1301 Carrier Drive, Harrisonburg, VA 22801.

Unloading and Parking:

  • Pull into the Festival Conference & Student Center circle located at 1301 Carrier Drive and unload all materials for the Fair onto the sidewalk. Staff and volunteers will ask you which organization you represent and bring your materials inside to your assigned table.
  • Exit the circle as soon as possible out of consideration for other recruiters. You can check in when you return from parking your car. 

Designated Parking Location: D-1 Lot (insert GPS Address Here)

  • Drive around the circle and make a left onto Carrier Drive. Turn at the Leeolou Alumni Center into the D-1 gravel parking lot.
  • If there are no more spaces in the paved section of D-3, then park in the gravel section of the same lot. D-3’s gravel lot entrance is directly to the right of the main entrance of D-3.
  • Overflow parking (if necessary) is available in R-4 Lot.
  • Parking anywhere other than D-3 or R-4 will result in a parking ticket.
  • After parking your car across the street, you should proceed into the Festival Conference & Student Center (enter through the lower level and go upstairs to the registration table to check in (registration is located in the upstairs lobby in front of the Grand Ballroom).
  • Please print and bring this information with you.
Inclement Weather Policy

Winter Weather Plan 

Delayed Opening: 9am, 10am or 11am

If JMU should have a delayed opening (till 9am, 10am or 11am) then we are still planning to have the Career & Internship Fair. If the University opens at 10am or 11am please be patient with us as all of our student attendees will be arriving at roughly the same time as all of you. It may be a bit chaotic in the first 30 minutes or so as we check in both employers and students, so please bear with us! Updated information on the status of JMU closing for winter weather can be found on the JMU homepage: www.jmu.edu.   

Delayed Opening: 12pm (noon) OR JMU Cancellation

If JMU should have a delayed opening at 12 noon (or should JMU decide to close altogether), we will have no choice but to cancel the fair (you will receive an email from me confirming this). If this should happen, please mark your calendars for our inclement weather make-up date, FEBRUARY 21, 2018. You will receive additional information regarding the logistics for attending this make-up event. Updated information on the status of JMU closing for winter weather can be found on the JMU homepage: www.jmu.edu .
