Geographic science majors are highly attractive to employers
JMU geographers are “big picture” thinkers, flourishing in the professional and scholarly world after graduation. Graduated are skilled in spatial analysis, as well as in environmental and social science research tools. They develop a knowledge base critical to understanding how the world works.
Some graduates of the Geographic Science program pursue further studies at highly regarded universities both here and abroad. Others seek employment upon graduation.
Geographic Science majors are highly attractive to employers because of their knowledge and understanding of both global and local issues, critical thinking skills, and their expertise in the latest geospatial technologies. Graduates find employment with Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Lockheed Martin Corporation, the National Park Service, Nature Conservatory, Digital Globe, the Boeing Company, and many other businesses, institutions, and governmental agencies.
