Graduate Application Materials


  • Applicants must submit their applications online**


  • When you apply you will upload your transcripts within the online application****. Only upload transcripts from all the universities/colleges where you have earned or anticipate earning a degree, (or expect to apply credits toward your program at James Madison University). Do not upload transcripts where you enrolled in classes but did not/nor do not intend to transfer any of the course-work

  • JMU transcripts are also required to be uploaded with your online application (however, you will not need to provide official transcripts for verification if admitted to a program)

Letters of Recommendation

  • Letters of recommendation, resumes, and personal statements are part of the online application****
  • To check if your recommenders have sent the recommendations or to make changes login to your Online Application, click on "Review Your Activity",  navigate to the "Review Page", then click on "Manage your Recommenders."

Test Scores

  • Revisit your Program webpage to review which tests (if any) are required by your program
  • Send official standardized test scores (GRE, GMAT, etc.) directly from the testing center. The Graduate School's institutional code for test scores is 5392 (If you are applying to a CSD program your test scores will be sent to CSDCAS institutional code 1043)

How to Check if your Application Status

  • Log-in to your MyMadison Applicant Center account and view your TO DO items to determine if we have received your materials
  • Revisit your Program webpage to review any additional materials that may be required - these will NOT be listed in your TO DO items

  • International applicants are required to submit additional materials online please see the International pages 

  • Once your TO DO checklist items are complete and your application is marked "complete" in the MyMadison Applicant Center The Graduate School will send your file to the program for review
