Check your JMU e-mail

Soon after you accept your offer for admission, you will be assigned a JMU e-mail address for your use while a student at JMU. Your e-mail address will be your e-ID@jmu.edu and your password will be the same as your e-ID password which you will set when you activate your computing account.

Different departments on campus, including your graduate program, Financial Aid, TGS, and the Registrar, will use your JMU e-mail to deliver important information to you. Its a good idea to start checking your JMU e-mail regularly right away.

Access your JMU e-mail on the web at https://webmail.jmu.edu. Take some time to review the helpful webmail guide to help you get started. Be sure to check out the web calendar, address book, and to do list that is included with your account.

If you want, you can have your JMU e-mails forwarded to another e-mail account or you can set JMU webmail to receive messages from your existing e-mail accounts. Sometimes people choose to set this up so that they can check all of their e-mails in one place.

No matter how you choose to use your JMU e-mail account, you'll want to keep checking your account and clearing out old or unwanted e-mails frequently. Student e-mail accounts hold a maximum of 10MB of e-mails. Once you exceed this capacity, new e-mails will not be delivered to your account.
