| Credential Evaluation |
If you received a Baccalaureate degree or higher from a non-US university, a course-by-course credential evaluation must be submitted. It must come from one of the credential evaluation services listed under the Credential Evaluations section. |
| Financial Declaration |
International students must be able to show at least $31,000 (USD) of financial resources for their entire period of study at JMU without resorting to employment while in the US. Click here for the Financial Declaration Form. |
| Official TOEFL or IELTS Score |
International students must present evidence of English proficiency. TOEFL or IELTS is generally required for all applicants whose first language is not English, regardless of US citizenship status. Exceptions: applicants who have earned a Baccalaureate degree from a recognized institution or higher learning in the United States (or other English-speaking country) before entering JMU are generally exempt from this requirement. Have official TOEFL scores sent directly to JMU institution code 5392 from Educational Testing Services (ETS) or have the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) center send official scores. For intensive English program information, please refer to the English Language Training section. The operational standards for admission to The Graduate School are listed below. Please note that individual programs may have higher TOEFL or IELTS requirements, so you should check with your program of interest for any specific scores that might be listed. Official scores will be required prior to application review or before we issue visa documents. Minimum TOEFL requirement: 570 paper-based; 88 internet-based Minimum IELTS requirement: 7.0 TOEFL or IELTS scores must be received directly from the testing center. | Official Transcripts |
Needed from all previously attended institutions, including an official final transcript showing a conferred Baccalaureate degree. Transcripts are not official unless they come from the institution in a sealed envelope. |
