Housing for Graduate Students


JMU does not have on-campus housing for graduate students, but does sponsor off-campus apartments at Denton's. These are single unit residences. Contact the Office of Residence Life to learn more.

Most graduate students find other off campus apartments. A good place to start looking is the JMU Office of Off-Campus Living (OCL). If you have trouble finding a place, contact the OCL; they know of apartments that are rented primarily to graduate students. They also maintain a directory that includes the property location, contact information, and other pertinent information.

Occasionally, individuals contact The Graduate School to offer housing opportunities for graduate students.  Those are listed below.  The Graduate School does not endorse any property or rentee, nor provide warranty on the condition of the property.

  • Female graduate student or professional, non-smoker, cat-friendly, wanted to share townhouse (2.5 miles from JMU) with professor.  Will have two furnished rooms (bedroom and office), private bath, and shared common space; w/d; cute garden; off-street parking.  $500 + utilities to share; one month's deposit; 12-month lease.  I am away most weekends and will be on leave in spring 2009.  Available no sooner than July 1st.  For pictures, see Craig's List.  Call Maureen at (540) 568-6029 or email shanahmg@jmu.edu.
