Culture Nights

Culture Nights is a collaboration effort from JMU faculty, staff, & students, and the International Student & Scholar Services to promote global awareness and engagement. It’s a series of free events where everyone is welcome to stop by anytime .

Come to CGE (Madison Hall 2nd floor) to expand your language, cultural and overall knowledge of world cultures through trivia and fun games, videos, music and of course food.

See you at one or all of these cultural nights:

  • The African Continent | Wednesday, Jan. 24 | 6:30pm - This specific culture night will focus on the continent of Africa. It will feature Africa's East and West regions. The event will feature: several displays of cultural artifacts, and handicrafts, trivia questions, African dance 101, handmade bracelets (made in East Africa) for display and to purchase, as well as some delicious food.
  • Mardi Gras | 2nd week in February | 6:30pm -What comes to mind when you think of Mardi Gras? Where does it take place? 'Stay tuned' for more forthcoming information.
  • Spicy Food | Wednesday, February 21 | 6:30pm - When you think of spicy food (or a spicy dish), what dish/food comes to mind? Which country first comes to mind when you think of spicy food? You'd be surpised to know the number of different countries which cuisine feature spicy food/meals. Come try some of them and perhaps even challenge your taste buds.
  • More cultural nights will take place throughout the semester (at least one per month). Keep checking this webpage for our upcoming events
