Event Proposal - International Week 2018

Our Changing Climates: Everybody's Business

September 24-29, 2018

PROPOSALS DUE MARCH 15, 2018

Our planet is full of surprises – from the breathtaking beauty of diverse landscapes and species to incredible human cultural variation and stories of resilience.  Our planet is also full of things that jeopardize the very existence of that beauty, those variations, and, importantly, our possibilities for resilience.

We find ourselves in the midst of monumental changes – social, political, and environmental.  A first step in coping successfully with these changes is to acknowledge our universal interconnectedness.  The 2018 International Week theme, “Our Changing Climates: Everybody’s Business,” reminds us to look both at ourselves and beyond ourselves and challenges us to consider how we can ensure cooperation and collaboration in our interconnected world.

Our changing climates hold both promise and peril.  From shifting sea levels to shifting chains of production to shifting personal perspectives, we are all engaged in changing our climates.  What do you want our collective story to be? How can we write it?

Join the Center for Global Engagement as we explore the history and possible futures of our many changing climates.

Humankind has not woven the web of life. We are but one thread within it. Whatever we do to the web, we do to ourselves. All things are bound together. All things connect.

The Center for Global Engagement is committed to supporting and further encouraging cross-cultural learning and collaboration. Given our 2018 theme of “Our Changing Climates: Everybody's Business,” we invite proposals for creative opportunities to reach this goal – presentations, panels, workshops, performances, readings, and more.
