Jonathan Kratz is the Director of International Student & Scholar Services.  He joined JMU in 2011, focusing on international student success.  Jonathan earned his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Eastern Mennonite University and completed his M.Ed in College Student Personnel Administration at JMU in May 2012. Prior to joining JMU, he worked at Eastern Mennonite University, a small private liberal arts university, for 11 years in a number of roles; Director of International Student Services, Assistant Director for Admissions and Assistant Women’s Soccer coach. He enjoyed teaching a college success course called “transitions” and assisting two professors lead summer study abroad programs to China (’08) and Ireland/Northern Ireland (’06). In addition, Jonathan is an active member of the Association of International Educators (NAFSA) where he currently serves as treasurer on the executive committee for NAFSA Region VIII.  He has served on the Virginia International Educators (VIE) Board and was Chair of the Board for the Harrisonburg Gift and Thrift Inc., a local nonprofit.  Jonathan enjoys working with international students in their transition to American culture, adjusting to college life and advising students on immigration, cultural adjustment and personal matters.
