JMU Global Supply Chain in Panama and Colombia

Program Description

JMU in Panama and Colombia is a 3-phase program that offers 6-credit hours in Supply Chain Management and International Logistics. The program is open to all college of business majors who completed COB 300.

COURSES:

Management Majors:

  • MGT 340 – International Management (3 credits)
  • MGT 461 – Global Supply Chain Management (3 credits)

Marketing Majors:

  • MGT 461 – Global Supply Chain Management (3 credits)
  • MKTG 462 – International Logistics (3 credits)

Location Description

Phase-1 (Harrisonburg, VA):

  • Lectures on JMU campus from May 28th to June 7th, 2018
  • Preparation and implementation of the first phase of the team project that includes components of social entrepreneurship, international logistics, and supply chain management.

Phase-2 (Panama City, Panama):

  • Panama City, Panama from June 8th to June 14th, 2018
  • Accommodations in a Hotel - Downtown Panama City
  • Visits to incredible cites like Panama Canal on both Atlantic and Pacific side
  • Visits to global companies like Dell and Under Armour
  • Weekend trip to amazing tropical locations

Phase-3 (Cartagena, Colombia):

  • Cartagena, Colombia from June 14th to June 26th, 2018
  • A UNESCO World Heritage site and home to Universidad Tecnologico de Bolivar
  • Work on an international import/export project with Colombian students
  • Visit the beautiful Centro Historico, taste the local food, and enjoy the tropical islands

Accommodations

Phase-1: Students will be expected to cover their own housing in Harrisonburg during Phase-1.

Phase-2: Students will be provided hotel rooms rooms with double occupancy and free wifi at Courtyard Mariott Downtown Panama City. 

Phase-3: Students will be provided rooms with double occupancy, free wifi, and maid service at executive suites of Orange by Travelers, in Cartagena, Colombia.

Students will be provided everyday breakfast and occasional group meals.

Additional Items to Consider

No visas required for either Panama or Colombia for US citizens staying less than 90 days.

Applicant Criteria

Applicants must have a GPA minimum of 2.5

Prerequisites: COB 300

Some Spanish

Junior or senior standing
