Arts for the Real World

Your gift enables students to explore artistic self-expression and produce original works that stimulate dialogue and create new thinking.

When you give, you enable faculty and students together to engage in “Arts for the Real World” -- creative experiences that take on the world’s most challenging issues: like using dance to reach people with dementia, or theater to compel political change, or photography to explore genetics, or music education to inspire the next generation.

JMU’s high quality arts training and nationally recognized General Education curriculum results in thoughtful, creative artists who are firmly grounded in a liberal arts context. That’s a powerful combination.

Your gift helps JMU recruit and retain students who are critical to elevating our programs to the next level. Our students are conducting nationally and internationally recognized research, leading service-learning trips at home and abroad, and enhancing their own communities through the arts. They are practicing “Arts for the Real World” in order to make a life-long positive impact on society.

Employers are snapping up these creative, well-grounded and contextually educated graduates who carry that ethos of engaging with the world to help us all re-envision the future. Your gift makes it possible.
