John Conway's The Game of Life - Cellular Automata

We use two Game of Life programs in the laboratory, Life3000 obtained years ago from a now out of print Artificial Life book, and Life32, available as freeware on the web. Links to both are below: Sites with Cellular Automata Applets (run online) Sites to download other versions of CA
Tutorials and Applications - the sites below explain what CA's are, how they work, and what they mean. The Atlantic Monthly link shows applications to modeling social systems, such as origin of segregation, crime distribution, etc.; contains applets showing the models in action.
