Midterm

The midterm exam in the course deals with fundamental concepts of chaos theory, complexity theory, and the computer simulations and experiments we study that exhibit these behaviors, such as cellular automata. It is a True/False/Multiple Choice test , including interpretations of charts, diagrams, graphs, figures, etc. That is, it is nitty-gritty understanding of basic facts, concepts, terms, assumptions, theories, etc.

Final Exam

The final exam is essay format. The goal of the Evolutionary Systems is to apply chaos/complexity to real world problems in a wide diversity of disciplines and in the final exam we ask you to do this integrating and applying.

Note that the because the course is changing the details of these tests will likely change, but their format and thrust will not change. As for grading the final exam; Steve and I sit down together, each read all the answers, discuss them, and then assign grades.
