GTHEA 210: Introduction to Theatre

Students study and have opportunities to experience the journey from page to stage.

Theatre is presented as a composite, collaborative art form which crosses paths with music, studio arts, dance and film. Students examine the relationship between theatre and the culture and society in which it exists or existed. The various components and practitioners of theatre [the literature, playwrights, directors, performers, designers, technicians and business aspects] are studied, and students read, discuss, analyze and experience various types of plays and performances. This course demonstrates the diversity of opinion and approaches related to theatre, and encourages students to participate in one or several phases of theatre and the arts.
