 UPDATE: Due to record numbers, we have closed registration for this year's Peace Camp!

 

The sixth annual Gandhi Center Children's Global Nonviolence Summer Camp will be held August 12 - 16, 2013 at James Madison University. This year's theme is "Planting Peace".  The camp will prepare children ages 6 to 13 to appreciate the value of nonviolence, the potential of nonviolent action to address conflicts, the value of social responsibility, the interconnected nature of human experience, and the planet's natural environment as they participate in an eclectic blend of exciting activities.

When

Monday - Friday, August 12 - 16, 2013, 8:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.

Where

JMU Memorial Hall (the old Harrisonburg High School) at 395 South High St., at the corner of South High St. and Cantrell Ave. in Harrisonburg.



Cost

$50.00 for each child in the family. 

*Scholarships are available. Payment is encouraged in the form of checks to be paid along with registration prior to the first day of camp, payable to JMU.

Food

Beverages and snacks included. You provide your child's lunch.

Ages

6 - 13 years of age, as of 2013 (children will be split into two groups, 6-10 and 11-13). Children must have completed kindergarden in order to be accepted.

Please complete both the Registration and Assumption of Risk forms (in one document for your convenience), and submit them to the Gandhi Center.

Volunteer   

 

 

Counselor

Application required. Please print out the application and assumption of risk form, and submit them to the Gandhi Center by April 1, 2013.

Junior Counselor

Application required. Please print out the online application and assumption of risk form, and submit it to the Gandhi Center by June 30, 2013. Those applying to be Junior Counselors must be 14 years of age or older.
