Global Nonviolence Summer Camp

 2014 Registration is now open!

The seventh annual Gandhi Center Children's Peace Camp will be held August 11 - 15, 2014 at James Madison University. This year's theme is "Peace and Diversity".  The camp will prepare children ages 6 to 13 to appreciate the value of nonviolence, the potential of nonviolent action to address conflicts, the value of social responsibility, the interconnected nature of human experience, and the planet's natural environment as they participate in an eclectic blend of exciting activities.


Monday - Friday, August 11 - 15, 2014, 8:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.


JMU Warren Hall, Taylor Hall, and Grafton Stovall Theatre


$60.00 for each child in the family. 

*Scholarships are available. Payment is encouraged in the form of checks to be paid along with registration prior to the first day of camp, payable to JMU.


Beverages and snacks included. You provide your child's lunch with a cold pack.


6 - 13 years of age, as of 2014 (children will be split into two groups, 6-9 and 10-13). Children must have completed kindergarden in order to be accepted.

Junior Counselor

Application required. Please print out the online application and assumption of risk form, and submit it to the Gandhi Center by June 30, 2014. Those applying to be Junior Counselors must be 14 years of age or older.
