Continuous Fire:  A Seminar on the Poetry of Sonia Sanchez
June 19-25, 2011

This week-long seminar offered an extensive critical view of African American poetry in general and Sonia Sanchez’s work in particular.  In workshops and discussions, senior scholars engaged participants in intensive study of Sanchez’s work.

Praise from seminar participants:

"Thank you so much…for the absolutely glorious experience that was 'Continuous Fire.' It was truly an inspiring and life-altering week for me. I'll be energized from it for a long time…I can't wait to put what I've learned to good use."

"Thank you all so much for this life-changing event.  The speakers along with the participants were all inspiring.  I'm walking with my head held higher, determined to stay on the battlefield."

"I have been vibrating off of the beautiful spiritual energy surrounding that event for days!  I learned so much about poetry, our wonderful honoree, Sonia Sanchez, myself, and all you wonderful poets, educators, and brilliant thinkers.  It was one of the best experiences that I've ever had."
