Salutations Everyone,
Hope your weeks are going well.
If you missed Monday night's Poetry Club meeting, you missed an awesome night of workshopping.
However, it's not too late to get in on next week's workshopping action. NEXT WEEK ONLY, E. Ethelbert Miller, literary activist and acclaimed poet, will be giving a workshop on Monday afternoon from 2:30-4:30 in Roop Hall, room 327. Be there, or be really sad you missed it. (Just make sure you tell me if you're coming by Sunday night - at the latest.) That's Monday, September 18, from 2:30-4:30 in Roop 327.
Also on Monday night, Mr. Miller will be reading his poetry at TDU at 7:00 PM. Get there early. It'll be nuts.
(That means we won't meet in ISAT on the 18th, but you can catch the Poetry Club back at it's regular time the following week: Monday, September 25, at 6:00 in ISAT 148.)
Get excited about poetry and awesome guest poets. See you all Monday - I hope!

So what are we doing this week? At our next meeting, on Monday, September 11, 2006, at 7:00 PM in ISAT 148, we will we conducting a poetry workshop. What does that mean exactly? Bring several copies of a poem you've written (or are writing) that you would like to read and discuss. Unfinished poems are okay. Poems you think are finished are okay. Performance pieces are okay. Just be sure to bring one (or more!) of your poems with you.
Don't forget! The following week (Monday, September 18), E. Ethelbert Miller is coming to JMU! From 2:30-4:30 (location TBA), he will be conducting a once-in-a-lifetime poetry workshop. If you are interested in coming (which you all should, because it's an AMAZING opportunity to work closely with and get feedback from a respected, published, and skilled poet) we ask that you RSVP to me ASAP (but absolutely no later than Sunday, September 17). (And obviously, don't say you'll be there if you won't.) Following the workshop, at 7:00, Mr. Miller will give a reading at TDU. You also do not want to miss this.
Hope everyone is having a fantastic week. I hope to you all at Poetry Club this week! Tell a friend, and I'll see you Monday!
Yey poems!

Greetings, Poetry Club Members!
I wanted to remind everyone that we have our first meeting of the year this Monday, September 4 from 6-7 PM in ISAT 148. This will essentially be a business meeting, in which we will establish the guiding principles of this year's Poetry Club and so forth. However, we may also do some writing exercises, as time permits.
Also, on Monday, September 18, E. Ethelbert Miller is coming to JMU. (He is an amazing poet, and he has a website if you want to learn more about him: http://www.eethelbertmiller.com/ .) At 1:00, he'll be hosting an *exclusive* poetry workshop for anyone that's interested. (By exclusive, I mean you need to tell me if you're coming and commit to being there, no later than Sunday, September 17. Tell all your friends - just make sure they RSVP to me, too.) The location is TBA, but it will be somewhere on campus. This is a REALLY cool opportunity to work closely with an experienced poet, so you do not want to miss it.
Then, at 7:00 that same evening (Monday, Sept. 18), Mr. Miller will be giving a poetry reading. This, to the best of my knowledge, is free and open to the public - and you don't have to RSVP. Again, he's awesome - but you shouldn't take my word for it, so come to the reading and see for yourself. The location is also TBA.
Don't forget to check out our myspace page, which features a calender of upcoming Poetry Club events and the meeting schedule. You can find it at http://www.myspace.com/jmupoetryclub . You can also e-mail me at this address with any questions, concerns, and/or letters of adoration.
Tell your friends. Tell your classmates. See you Monday!
