IDENTIFICATION, EVALUATION, NOMINATION AND
ELECTION OF MEMBERS OF THE BOARD OF

POLICY:
THE OFFICERS AND DIRECTORS OF THE JAMES MADISON UNIVERSITY FOUNDATION SHALL CONTINUOUSLY SEEK TO IDENTIFY PROSPECTIVE BOARD MEMBERS WHO DISPLAY PROMISE OF GOOD STEWARDSHIP OF FOUNDATION ASSETS AND SUPPORT OF JAMES MADISON UNIVERSITY
PROCEDURES:
- Board members, especially those whose term of office is imminently expiring, should identify at least one person to succeed them.
- Names of persons identified (either as in 1 above, or otherwise) shall be given to University Development to be researched for giving record, University support, and related factors.
- The Nominating Committee of the JMUF will review all persons being considered and prioritize them for nomination at the next board meeting.
- The Chairman and the President of the JMUF will contact one person for each vacancy to determine the level of interest in serving on the board.
- Persons responding favorably will be invited to the next meeting of the JMUF as observers.
- After observing a meeting of the JMUF, those who indicate a willingness to become members will be voted on by the Executive Committee. Those elected will become members on July 1.
