POLICY:
THE JAMES MADISON UNIVERSITY FOUNDATION CONTINUALLY SEEKS BOARD MEMBERS WHO HAVE A WILLINGNESS AND A DESIRE TO ADVANCE JAMES MADISON UNIVERSITY BY GIVING OF THEIR INFLUENCE AND RESOURCES IN SUPPORT OF THE UNIVERSITY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM.
- Board members should be committed to becoming thoroughly familiar with the mission statement of the University.
- Board members should be capable of materially advancing James Madison University.
- Board members should be affluent and influential.
- Board members should be willing to support JMU to the limit of their financial resources.
- Board members should be willing and anxious to provide leadership to the ongoing development program and to any and all capital campaigns by assisting in identification, cultivation, and solicitation of prospective donors.
- Board members should be willing to assume the responsibility for overseeing the legal and fiduciary responsibilities of the Foundation.
QUALIFICATIONS OF BOARD MEMBERS
A board member should be someone who can materially advance James Madison University.
He/she should be affluent and influential.
He/she should be thoroughly familiar with the University's mission statement and be able and willing to interpret it to others.
He/she should be willing and anxious to provide leadership to the ongoing development program and any and all capital campaigns by assisting in identification and cultivation of prospective donors.
He/she should be able and willing to commit the necessary time to attend board and committee meetings.
