Umbria

Situated in the center of Italy, Umbria is a small region, the only one in Italy without a coastline. It boarders with the Marches to the north-east and east, with Latium to the south and Tuscany to the west and north-west. Umbria consists of mountains (29%) and hills (71%). Described in holiday brochure as "the green heart of Italy", Umbria has 260,000 hectares of woodland, 30.8% of the whole surface area.
