Lombardy (Lombardia)Lombardy covers the central area of the Po Valley. It borders with Switzerland to the north, Emilia-Romagna to the south, Piedmont to the west and Trentino-Alto Adige and the Venetian region to the east. This region is the fourth largest in Italy and one of the most densely populated. In the pre-alpine zone lie the great Lombard lakes: Lake Maggiore, Lake Lugano (one small part of it), Lake Como, Lake Iseo, Lake Idro, and Lake Garda, the largest in Italy. |
