My area of specialization is Golden Age Spanish prose, particularly texts that can be considered early self-help books. I'm interested more broadly in readers, history of the book, and women's history and gender. I'm currently researching images of reading in the prose works of fray Luis de León and descriptions of widows in conduct manuals--both in the 16th century.
