Hailed as “one of the pre-eminent period-instrument ensembles” (The Independent, London), Apollo’s Fire “burst on the scene with dazzling style” (The Cleveland Plain Dealer) 25 years ago. Four European tours and 24 CD releases later, Cleveland’s Baroque orchestra has played to sold-out crowds in major cities in the United States and Europe, including London, where its concert was chosen as one of the “Best 5 Classical Concerts of 2014” by The Telegraph. Apollo’s Fire will perform the music of Johann Sebastian Bach and his contemporaries in an evening featuring Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto No. 4 in G Major, Bach’s Concerto in D Minor for Two Violins, selections from Telemann’s Burlesque de Quixotte, as well as works by Handel and Vivaldi. A famous coffeehouse in 18th-century Leipzig, Germany, served as the scene for virtuoso concerts by Bach and his student orchestra, and is the inspiration behind this program brimming with “energy, discipline, style and pizzazz.” (The Boston Globe)  www.apollosfire.org
