What causes people to commit unspeakable acts of violence? This question lies at the heart of Equus, a frank and harrowing coming-of-age story that explores the topics of sexuality and religion in the life of 17-year-old Alan Strang. The troubled teen is taken for psychological treatment after blinding several horses with a metal spike. Psychiatrist Martin Dysart is assigned the case, and in an attempt to unravel the mystery behind the crime, is forced to confront the shortcomings of his own life. Features students from JMU’s School of Theatre and Dance.

Adult content, language and nudity.
EQUUS is presented by special arrangement with SAMUEL FRENCH, INC.
