"An orchestra with many virtues ... a program rich with energy and unusually adventurous."
The Sydney Morning Herald

Direct from Kiev, the National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine is one of the finest symphony orchestras in Eastern Europe. Formed in 1918, NSOU has played premiere performances of works by some of the world’s most gifted composers. Theodore Kuchar began conducting the Orchestra in 1992, and since that time the NSOU has released more than 100 recordings, has been nominated for two Grammys, and has performed across the globe to the highest international acclaim. This spectacular evening features Dvořák’s Carnival Overture, Op. 92, Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 5, Op. 47, and Prokofiev’s Piano Concerto No. 3 in C Major, Op. 26 featuring pianist Alexei Grynyuk, who is described by Le Figaro as a “ … master of transparent and sovereign touch … astonishing personality and absolutely transcendental virtuosity.” Grynyuk has won numerous awards at international piano competitions, and has appeared with the Bolshoi Symphony Orchestra, Krakow Philharmonic, and in New York at the International Keyboard Festival and The Metropolitan Museum of Art, among others. Don’t miss this evening of masterful musicianship!
