"Daniel Kelly is powerfully moving."
Time Out New York

In his groundbreaking RAKONTO series, award-winning composer and pianist Daniel Kelly weaves together the recorded voices and stories of everyday people with photography, jazz, classical and folk music to create compelling community-based presentations. The Forbes Center commissioned Kelly’s newest project drawn from personal interviews with Harrisonburg High School students and community members that reflect the rich cultural diversity of the Shenandoah Valley. A photographic exhibit will accompany the show. Since 2011, Kelly has been commissioned to create eleven original RAKONTO presentations around the country, including RAKONTO: Melting Pot NYC - a portrait of an immigrant neighborhood in New York City and RAKONTO: Life after Hurricane Sandy - a chronicle of experiences from survivors of Hurricane Sandy. www.danielkellymusic.com
