Dedicated to the creation and performance of contemporary music throughout the Commonwealth, Virginia Sinfonietta consists of faculty members from James Madison University, Shenandoah University, the University of Virginia, the University of Richmond and Virginia Tech. This concert includes music by guest composer Stephen Hartke, winner of the 2013 Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Classical Composition, as well as a performance by Virginia Sinfonietta featuring Hartke’s Wulfstan at the Millenium, Takemitsu’s Rain Coming, and Son of Chamber Symphony by John Adams.
