Sonos Handbell Ensemble

Thursday, December 10 @ 8 pm

“Their music stunned us all. The 4,000 members went wild, just as we knew they would." – Garrison Keillor, host, A Prairie Home Companion

“Mezmerizing and immediately engaging” – The Oakland Tribune

Ring in the holidays with a performance by the world-renowned Sonos Handbell Ensemble! At the forefront of handbell artistry since its founding in 1990, the California-based Sonos has moved handbells into the musical mainstream with show-stopping, sold-out performances to millions across the United States, Europe and Asia. “A musical feast for the senses,” audiences will hear solo and orchestra works that have premiered for handbells alone and in combination with other instruments and voices. The 12-member ensemble is equally impressive to watch, handling 68 chromatically tuned bells covering over five octaves. This considerable acrobatic effort involves ringing, slamming, plucking, malleting, shaking, damping, bouncing, and many other virtuosic techniques. Come prepared to be awed and entertained by “sensuous and exuberant” playing the entire family will enjoy!
