Gilbert and Sullivan's Patience

Wednesday - Thursday, April 8 - 9 @ 8 pm

Patience is a virtue—and a milkmaid! This hilarious spoof of Oscar Wilde and the aesthetic movement is brimming with cunning wit and lively repartee. All the wellborn “previously engaged” young maidens in the village are rapturously in love with two “aesthetic” poets much to the dismay of their macho military boyfriends. Sadly for the maids, the two poets are infatuated with Patience who has little use for poetry and is desperately trying to find true love. While Bunthorne is crazy about Patience, she falls for a childhood crush, Archibald Grosvenor. The maidens’ military suitors try to win them back by attempting to be willowy poets. Poetry proves to be somewhat poison for everyone involved. All the ladies choose their old sweethearts, proving that “real” love will find a way to triumph in the end.
