Music and Lyrics by John Kander and Fred Ebb
Book by Joe Masteroff

The scene is a nightclub in Berlin as the 1920s are drawing to a close. The master of ceremonies welcomes the audience to the show and assures them that their troubles will be forgotten at the Cabaret. On a train to Berlin, Cliff, a struggling, young, American writer, meets Ernst, a German, who smuggles goods across borders and into the city. The audience is also introduced to Sally Bowles, a performer at the seedy club, who moves in with Cliff. Together, these characters must work their way through the struggles of blooming relationships and dwindling finances under the continually growing shadow of the Nazi Party.
