Marimba Orchestra and Friends

This musical favorite returns to the line-up with performances by internationally acclaimed marimbist and percussionist Kevin Bobo, faculty guest artist Dr. Andrew Connell, and JMU's Orchestra. Students will join Mr. Bobo for a presentation of Boboland, a work that shows the world through the eyes of a three-year old. The music highlights Mr. Bobo's wizardry on the marimba, as well as the constant changing of emotions, and fun and interesting sounds that a youngster makes. Also featured is a Brazilian-street parade leading into a performance by Dr. Connell with the Steel Band and a Salute to Astor Piazolla, which includes beautiful renditions of the tango courtesy of adjunct dance faculty artist Edwin Roa.
