Hubbard Street Dance Chicago stands at the forefront of American contemporary dance companies. Its work encompasses a vast array of techniques and forms, and its dancers display unparalleled versatility and virtuosity. Hubbard Street 2, its professional company for early-career artists, tours domestically and internationally: it showcases the work of its gifted young dancers, many of whom are already accomplished and recognized as contemporary choreographers. Each year, HS2 holds a National Choreographic Competition to bring new work by major and upcoming dance makers into its repertoire. Prior winners include Aszure Barton, Edwaard Liang, Andrew Miller, and Robert Battle, artistic director of Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater.
