The Madison Singers is the advanced, auditioned choral chamber ensemble at JMU. Maintaining an active performance schedule both on- and off-campus, the Madison Singers explore, prepare and present advanced choral repertoire that is expressive of the diversity of the human spirit throughout both music history and world cultures. The Madison Singers tour locally, regionally and internationally. The ensemble has collaborated with the Czech National Orchestra in Prague of 2006 and competed in the 2009 National Eissteddfod of Wales, earning a third place in the Chamber Choirs category. Regionally, the Madison Singers participate in the Staunton Music Festival and Piccolo Spoleto Festival, and serve as “audible ambassadors” for JMU through concerts in local nursing homes and assisted living facilities.

Ranging from 60-80 voices, the JMU Chorale is an auditioned and highly select choir that performs repertoire from the Renaissance to the contemporary era in both sacred and secular genres. The Chorale maintains an active performance schedule both on- and off-campus.  Its feature programs include the JMU Pops Concert and Holidayfest; the choir frequently collaborates on projects with the JMU Symphony Orchestra.
