Once called “the most recorded clarinetist in American Academia,” Charles West has recorded repertoire ranging from standard to avant-garde, on the Klavier, Wilson Audiophile, Centaur, CRI, Crystal, and he is heard on a Grammy Award-winning Telarc CD. He has been a Fulbright Scholar and President of the International Clarinet Association. West’s professional career includes 30 years as Principal or Bass Clarinet in six orchestras, teaching positions in three North American universities, and guest professorships and performances in South America, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Australia and China. He is Coordinator of Winds & Percussion at Virginia Commonwealth University, artist-clinician for the Buffet Group, Conductor of the Youth Orchestra of Central Virginia, and is principal author of Meredith Publishing’s “The Woodwind Player’s Cookbook: Creative Recipes for a Successful Performance.” In 2011, he received VCUArts’ highest faculty award, the Award of Excellence. - See more at:

Currently Assistant Professor of Piano and Keyboard Area Coordinator at VCU, pianist Yin Zheng enjoys a vibrant career of performing and teaching across Europe, the U.S. and Asia. A Ukrainian newspaper has described her playing as “an astonishing torrent of images, passages and themes, amazing the audience with an unbelievable technical precision that was balanced by delicate melodic and dynamic nuances.” She has been featured on leading music stages such as Carnegie Hall and Steinway Hall in New York City, and in worldwide reputable music festivals in France, Belgium, Switzerland, Austria, Germany, Spain, Portugal, China and Canada. She has worked with eminent pianists such as Paul-Badura Skoda, Alicia de Larrocha, Aldo Ciccolini, Russell Sherman and John Perry, and is highly appraised by the legendary pianist Fou Tsong as a unique interpreter of the music of Mozart.
