Aquila Theatre: Fahrenheit 451

Wednesday, November 13 @ 8 pm

"The classics made relevant with superb acting and clever staging."
The New Yorker

One of the most revered novels of the 20th century, Fahrenheit 451 is Ray Bradbury’s dystopian tale of a bleak future where literature and knowledge are on the edge of extinction. Aquila Theatre, one of the foremost producers of touring classical theatre, will breathe new life into Bradbury’s visionary parable of a society gone awry. Founded in London in 1991 by Peter Meineck, Aquila aims to bring the greatest number of works to the greatest number of people. Considered a work of science fiction when first published, Fahrenheit 451 has been debated for decades: issues of censorship, the effects of technology on society and literature, and the means by which knowledge is gained continue to be concerns today. Written in 1953 and adapted for the stage by Bradbury in 1966, Fahrenheit 451 has achieved the rare distinction of being both a literary classic and a perennial bestseller. Don’t miss this exhilarating and explosive drama!

Produced by special arrangement with the Dramatic Publishing Company of Woodstock, Illinois.

This tour engagement of Aquila Theatre is funded through the Mid Atlantic Tours program of Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation with support from the National Endowment for the Arts.
