Michele Kirkdorffer, oboe

Active as a soloist, chamber musician, orchestral musician and clinician, Michele Burke Kirkdorffer has performed with the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Symphony Orchestra, the Richmond Symphony in Indiana, the Louisville Symphony Orchestra in Kentucky, the Roanoke Symphony in Virginia, the Richmond Symphony in Virginia and the West Virginia Symphony Orchestra. She has performed chamber and orchestral music in venues such as the Lincoln Center, the Kennedy Center, the Sarasota Music Festival, and in Lucca, Italy.

Dr. Kirkdorffer performed on numerous soundtracks for The Learning Channel and National Geographic including on the 2004 Emmy award-winning soundtrack Stalking Leopards, composed and produced by Cottrell-Mangum Music. As a member of the JMU Montpelier Wind Quintet, Dr. Kirkdorffer has performed at the Virginia Music Education Association Conference, the Midwest Clinic in Chicago Illinois, the International Flute Conference in Washington, D.C. and New York, NY, and at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. Dr. Kirkdorffer teaches oboe and coordinates undergraduate music admissions at James Madison University. 

Lori Piitz enjoys a performance career that includes solo, four-hand and chamber music. She has performed in numerous festivals and venues, including the Festival of the Sound in Canada, the Schubert Club in Minneapolis, Lincoln Center and Steinway Hall in New York City, and the Schleswig-Holstein Festival in Germany. Ms. Piitz received her doctorate from Indiana University where she studied with Menahem Pressler.
