Canadian music and composers take center stage for this year’s festival celebrating the 150th birthday of Canada! JMU faculty, ensembles and students will present Kelly-Marie Murphy’s music, the music of Canadian composer Elizabeth Raum, and other Canadian contemporary works in three main concerts during the festival. More


This concert features performances by the JMU Treble Chamber Choir and the University Men's, Women's and Combined Choruses. The JMU Treble Chamber Choir and the University Men’s and Combined Choruses are under the direction of Dr. W. Bryce Hayes. The University Women’s Chorus is under the direction of Dr. Jo-Anne van der Vat-Chromy. More

The JMU Wind Symphony, under the direction of Stephen P. Bolstad, is the premier woodwind, brass and percussion ensemble at JMU. This program features Dr. Heather Coltman, JMU Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs, as piano soloist for George Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue, as well as Dr. Joanne Gabbin, JMU Professor of English and Founder of the Furious Flower Poetry Center, as narrator for Joseph Schwantner’s New Morning for the World. This powerful and moving work pays tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. More
