Why was I selected for verification?

Verification is a normal process that all colleges and universities are required to complete.

My SAR (Student Aid Report) states that I am selected for verification. Do you want me to send my documents to you now?

No.  Our office will be in contact with you if we require you to go through the verification process.  We communicate with students and parents via email.

I have been selected for verification but my parents have filed for a tax extension or haven't filed taxes yet. Will this affect my financial aid?

Unfortunately, we cannot produce an official financial aid award for students until verification is complete.  Delays in the verification process may decrease your chance of receiving certain types of financial aid.

May I send copies of tax returns instead of completing IRS Data Retrieval or sending IRS Tax Return Transcripts?

No.  We ask that you complete IRS Data Retrieval through the FAFSA web site at www.fafsa.gov.  If for some reason you are unable to complete this, you may send us a copy of your IRS Tax Return Transcript and W-2s which you may request at https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f4506t.pdf.   We CANNOT accept copies of tax returns for the 2016-17 academic year.
