STAR
Standard Tool for Accounting Reconciliation
STAR is a Microsoft Access database that was created for departments to use as an aid in the monthly reconciliation process. By importing a query from the PeopleSoft Finance System and keying in departmental office documents monthly, the reconciler can use STAR to show any exceptions that may occur in their budget via various reports. These reports can be printed, signed, and kept in departmental files to show the reconciliation was completed. Such reports include month, year, and life–to–date (grant) information, monthly exceptions, and real time budget balances (including exceptions and encumbrances).
STAR training classes are offered each August as the new fiscal year is underway. Enrollment for the training class is through MyMadison (AS1004).
