The James Madison University Faculty Handbook has been prepared by university faculty members and administration and reviewed and approved by the BOV. This handbook is designed to be a source of information for faculty members about their employment at the university. The 2001 version of the Faculty Handbook was drafted by a Faculty Handbook Task Force that was formed in the fall of 1999. It represented a new creation that replaced the 1994-95 Faculty Handbook. This new 2009 edition is the result of the work of the Faculty Handbook Committee. Cross-references to other university documents are frequent, and the reader is encouraged to seek information elsewhere for issues that have not been addressed in this handbook.
