Part concert, part documentary theatre piece, Songs of the Second Wave looks back to the 1970s to contextualize, celebrate, and critique the "womyn's" music of that amazing decade. Developed out of research at the Lesbian Herstory Archives in Brooklyn and Harvard’s Schlesinger Library, this show weaves archival material with work by artists ranging from Cris Williamson to Maxine Feldman to Sweet Honey in the Rock. Come hear hilarious classics like Alix Dobkin's "A View from Gayhead" (Every Woman Can Be a Lesbian)," moving ballads such as "Amazon," the adopted theme song of the Michigan Womyn's Musical Festival, and rousing singalongs such as the Chicago Women's Liberation Band's anthem "Papa Don't Lay That Sh** On Me."
