Expanding Your Horizons Conference

Sat, 17 Mar 2018 9:00 AM - 3:20 PM

The Expanding Your Horizons Conference (EYH) at JMU will take place on Saturday, March 17, 2018, in Memorial Hall from 9:00am to 3:20pm.

EYH is an annual STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) conference designed for girls in grades 6-9.  The purpose of the conference is to encourage young women to continue their studies in STEM, to provide them with female scientist role models, and to foster awareness of STEM-related careers.  This year, we will offer student workshops on a wide variety of topics, including biology, chemistry, computer science, engineering, geology, health science, physics, mathematics, and statistics.  The conference will also include keynote talks, lunch with JMU student volunteers, and a science demonstration.  Parents and teachers are invited to accompany their students to the conference.  More information about EYH, including descriptions of the workshops, is available on our website http://www.jmu.edu/mathstat/eyh.

The conference is free, but advance registration for students and adults is required.  Registration will open on Friday, February 23, at 7:00 AM, and directions for registration are available on our website http://www.jmu.edu/mathstat/eyh/howtoregister.shtml  Please plan to register early as space is limited and the conference fills very quickly.
