Being a Better Parent: Solving the Mystery of Effective Parenting (TD2376)

Tue, 19 Feb 2019 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM

Session 1 of 3

Parents commonly identify raising healthy, happy, successful children as their most important goal.  Unfortunately, the rising rates of anxiety and depression and the decreasing competence to manage life’s challenges found in the current adolescent and young adult populations suggest that many parents are not realizing the future that they hope for their children.  This multi-session workshop provides participants with important concepts and practical suggestions to improve the quality of their children’s lives and prepare them with the mindsets and skills that they will need for personal, social, and professional success.

In this workshop participants will:

  • Develop the ability to more critically evaluate the impact and outcomes of the common parenting practices in American society
  • Learn parenting concepts that will improve their children’s opportunities for personal, social, and academic growth and success
  • Identify desirable changes to their current parenting practices
  • Be given the opportunity to consider and discuss how to implement desired parenting changes within their family structure

Facilitated by: Dr. David Onestak, Director, Counseling Center
