The Role of Pollinators in the Artist's Studio

Thu, 8 Nov 2018 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM

Massanutten Regional Library, Central Branch

Join us for a discussion on pollinators as subjects and as producers of vital mediums for the artist’s studio. As subjects, we will examine pollinators through the works of Maria Merian, Beatrix Potter, and Sir Joseph Noel Patton. In terms of vital mediums, we will look at the use of beeswax in various processes such as wax glues, lost wax casting, and the works of Aganetha Dyck.

This event is part of A Book for the 'Burg, a periodic community-wide reading, learning, and engagement program. Its goal is to inspire conversations about a thought-provoking theme. Community participants are encouraged to explore the libraries' book selections and attend a number of related events and activities.

A Book for the 'Burg is the result of a partnership between James Madison University, Eastern Mennonite University, Massanutten Regional Library, and the City of Harrisonburg Department of Parks and Recreation.
