FAST (Faculty/Staff) Fitness

JMU Faculty and Staff, are you looking to exercise in the group setting with your colleagues? Then FAST Fitness is for you! These classes are held in Memorial Hall Auxiliary Gym and are for JMU Faculty and Staff only. Certified and Licensed Instructors from the community will lead each of the options for Spring 2013. 

Join us for Open House Week  January 22-24 so that you can try the class before you commit. The 5-week session will run January 28-February 28.

Mixed Level Yoga: Tuesdays, 5:30-6:30 pm  

This blend of Hatha Yoga with a little slow flow will leave you stronger, more flexible, and feeling like you’ve put a good end to the work day. Class taught by Jennifer Matthaei Cottrell.

Gentle Yoga: Wednesdays, Noon-12:45 pm 

Take time in the middle of your day to move and recharge.   Ease into poses to help your body open up and prepare for the afternoon.  Taught by Veronica Jones.

Zumba®: Wednesdays, 5:30-6:30 pm 

Ditch the workout.  Join the party.  Zumba classes feature exotic rhythms set to high-energy Latin and international beats. Before participants know it, they’re getting fit and their energy levels are soaring! There’s no other fitness class like a Zumba Fitness-Party. It’s easy to do, effective and totally exhilarating.  Taught by Holly Wade.

Vinyasa Yoga: Thursdays, 5:30-6:30 pm

This is a more challenging flow style of Yoga class.  You will build strength, flexibility, and balance with this class.  Join Devon Sweeney for this class.

Cost and Registration Information:

  • 1 class per week: $12.50
  • 2 classes per week: $25.00
  • 3 classes per week: $37.50
  • 4 classes per week: $50.00

Please register for this program with FLEX (or check made out to James Madison University) at the UREC Welcome Center 24 hours prior to the start of the first session.  When registering, indicate which class you want to take.
