Madison Vision Series Panel: The Impact of the Affordable Care Act

The Office of the President, welcomes: Secretary William Hazel, Michael DudleyEric Major and Jim Krauss for the Madison Vision Series. They will participate in a panel titled, Health Care Legislation: Continuing Challenges and Divergent Opinions.

William A. Hazel Jr. is serving his second term as Secretary of Health and Human Resources for the Commonwealth of Virginia, a post he took in January 2010. As Secretary, Dr. Hazel oversees 11 state agencies with more than 16,000 employees, covering such diverse programs as Medicaid, Behavioral Health, Social Services, and aging and Rehabilitation. These combined agencies spend approximately one-third of Virginia's budget.

Michael M. Dudley is the President of Optima Health and a Senior Vice President of Sentara Healthcare. Optima Health Plan (the health plan division of Sentara Healthcare) serves 460,000 members and consists of over 15,000 physicians and 114 hospitals.

Eric Major is the President, CEO and Co-Founder of K2M, Inc., a fast-growing global medical device company focused on developing innovative surgical solutions for the most complex spinal pathologies.

Jim Krauss has more than 30 years of executive leadership experience in healthcare. Most recently he was president of Sentara RMH Medical Center and corporate vice-president of Sentara Healthcare. He retired from Sentara to pursue his doctorate at James Madison University which he is currently pursuing (in Strategic Leadership Studies) and a second career in teaching healthcare administration.
