Thu, 17 Sep 2015 3:30 PM - 5:00 PM

Forbes Center Concert Hall

The Office of the President, in conjunction with the Madison Institutes of JMU’s department of Outreach and Engagement, welcomes Stewart Harris. Harris is a Professor of Law at Appalachian School of Law (ASL) and host of Your Weekly Constitutional, carried on public radio stations across the country.

Professor Harris graduated from Princeton University in 1983 and then went on to the University of Pennsylvania Law School in Philadelphia, where he graduated in 1986.  While there, he won the Law School's Edwin R. Keedy moot court championship.

Professor Harris then worked for the federal government in Washington, DC, where he spent four years on Capitol Hill advising the Army Corps of Engineers as well as in private practice focusing on environmental, civil rights and First Amendment law.

Prior to joining the ASL faculty, Professor Harris taught at the University of Florida College of Law.

In 2011, Professor Harris created a public radio show, Your Weekly Constitutional (YWC), which is produced at WETS-FM, the NPR affiliate in Johnson City, Tennessee, and syndicated nationally.  YWC is underwritten by Montpelier, the historic home of the Father of the Constitution, James Madison.  The show is on Facebook and Twitter, and podcasts are available on iTunes.  As part of the lecture, Professor Harris will be taping an upcoming episode of Your Weekly Constitutional.

Professor Harris will serve as the first speaker opening the third year of the Madison Vision Series on Constitution Day, September 17th, 2015.

This event is free and open to the public.
