Represent JMU at the Student Conference on United States Affairs

October 24-27, West Point, NY

The Annual Student Conference on United States Affairs (SCUSA 2018) will be held at the US Military Academy, West Point, New York, 24-27 October.  The theme of the conference is "Cooperation Reimagined: American Influence in an Increasingly Complex World."

The conference brings together foreign policy experts and more than 200 students from over 100 colleges and universities worldwide to discuss major issues and formulate proposals for American foreign policy.  This forum provides an excellent opportunity for students to consider U.S. interests in the context of today’s complex global events.  Delegates are assigned to a regional or issue-based round table and the conference consists of four round table sessions, a panel discussion and a banquet address.  The conference also provides an outstanding forum for the development of networking relations that will prove to be valuable resources for participants for many years to come.

SCUSA is designed for advanced undergraduates working in the disciplines of international affairs or political science.  The Political Science department will sponsor one delegate to the conference. The student delegate's travel, lodging, and meals expenses will be covered by SCUSA and by funds donated to the department that support experiential learning.

Interested senior INTA, POSC, and PPA majors are encouraged to apply.  Advanced juniors may also apply, but priority will be given to seniors.  The representative will be determined via a competitive application process—applications will be reviewed by political science faculty.

For further information, please contact Dr. Grant (grantka@jmu.edu) or visit the SCUSA website (http://www.usma.edu/scusa/SitePages/Home.aspx).

Applications for the conference are due to Dr. Grant no later than 5pm on Wednesday Oct 3.

The application form is online available here as a WORD document.

Please submit the application electronically as a document attachment to Dr. Grant via e-mail (grantka@jmu.edu).
