Documenting Latina/o High School Experiences and College Dreams

Wed, 21 Sep 2016 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM

Madison Union, Room 405

This JMU International Week program showcases the power of documentary film for sharing the diversity of voices in our community, and for activating thoughtful discussion of how immigration policies and college admission practices impact our campus community.

Please join us in viewing several short documentary film projects of local Latina/o high school students with college dreams that were produced by JMU students of the School of Media Arts and Design. The films will serve as a vehicle to engage in dialogue with each other and with the students in the films about the diversity of Latino communities, the barriers that many first-generation Latinos experience in their quest for college, and the state of national immigration policies, as well as college admission practices of the Commonwealth.
