Identity, Ethics and Volunteerism with Endangered Species

Wed, 17 Oct 2018 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM

Dr. Jennifer Byrne (Political Science) will present her talk Identity, Ethics and Volunteerism with Endangered Species. Humans are currently reevaluating their relationship and treatment of non-human animals. This includes legal challenges to give certain species personhood, major shifts in the use of animals as entertainment, and a halt to medical testing on specific species. Dr. Byrne examines what motivates people to conserve endangered species and the ethical principles they use to guide their interactions. Bring your lunch; dessert and coffee will be served. All are welcome.
